Custom Artwork Engraving Process

Custom artwork engraving is a collaborative process. The upload preview on our product page is there to help you confirm that you selected the correct artwork file. It is not a final production proof and should not be used to judge exact engraving size, placement, line weight, contrast, or appearance on the finished material.

How the process works

1. Upload your artwork

Select Logo / Artwork on the product page and upload the file you want us to use. High-quality vector artwork is ideal, but we also accept supported high-resolution image and document formats.

2. Confirm the correct file was uploaded

The on-page preview lets you verify that you uploaded the intended artwork. For image files, you may see the artwork displayed over the product image. For other supported file types, the filename may be shown instead.

The preview is only an upload check. Exact engraving placement, size, proportion, and production appearance will be determined during our artwork review.

3. We prepare a production proof

After your order is placed, Ad Lunam Designs reviews the artwork and prepares it for engraving. We may make minor production-safe adjustments when needed, such as resizing, repositioning, simplifying very fine details, improving line weight, or adjusting contrast so the design engraves cleanly on the selected product.

We will then send you a proof showing the proposed engraving layout for your review.

4. You approve the proof

Please review the proof carefully for artwork, spelling, orientation, placement, and overall layout. If you would like a change, let us know and we will revise the proof as appropriate.

We do not begin engraving until you approve the proof.

5. We make your product

Once the proof is approved, we move the item into production and engrave it using the approved layout.

Why we use a proofing step

Every product, material, and piece of artwork behaves a little differently. The proofing step gives us a chance to optimize the design for the actual engraving area while giving you the opportunity to approve the final layout before anything permanent happens. Lasers are wonderfully precise. They are also spectacularly uninterested in undo buttons.

If your artwork has unusual requirements or you have specific placement instructions, include them in the Artwork Instructions field when you place your order.
